I have a hard time staying on task. I flutter about outside in my gardens in the morning. Looking more like a homeless person with a watering can than an artist. I head inside when it gets too hot for my liking and start more paintings than I can count. I really need to get better at finishing them.
I have so many paintings started that I’ve run out of easel space. I prop up canvases against easels in use and spread myself out on the floor like a child playing with found objects.
Natural light floods my studio from a wall of windows that take the place of garage doors.
The flooring, well that’s carpet padding. When we moved in we immediately pulled up the 1980’s carpet that the previous owners installed during a garage to family room conversion. That was 10 years ago! I have grand intentions in remodeling this space. To be honest, I have grand remodeling ideas for the entire house. It was a foreclosure and in need of much repair when we bought it. Little by little we have been knocking projects off the list. In the meantime, a coat of white paint on the walls and a concrete floor covered with carpet padding serves as my studio. And I must say, this is my happy place. Well, this and my hen house.
